Injective Grant DAO Round 1

Apply Grant
  • 2247Contributors

  • 150.7 INJCommunity contribution

  • 1,500 INJMatching pool

Quick Facts

  • Voting period: March 18th, 5 AM PST(1 PM UTC) - April 8th, 5 AM PST(1 PM UTC)
  • Vote at DoraHacks: https://dorahacks.io/injective/1/
  • 1 vote costs 0.01 INJ. Ensure your wallet has a sufficient $INJ balance for both the vote and gas fee.
  • (Metamask Only) vcDORA(>0) can add weight to your votes (making 1 vote counted as more votes in the prize distribution algorithm). Voting does NOT consume any real vcDORA/DORA token. (The wallet to vote via Injective and to hold vcDORA should be the same one.)
  • Sybil attacks are prohibited and will be detected during the post-hackathon anti-sybil check, which means that creating multiple fake accounts to vote will not improve the BUIDL ranking.
  • For mobile voting, please copy this page link and open it in Keplr/Metamask’s in-app browser. Refer to the detailed instructions from the step-by-step guide in the “Mobile User Voting Guide” tab.

Timeline

  • Community Voting: March 18th, 12 PM PST(1 PM UTC) - April 8th, 12 PM PST(1 PM UTC)
  • Project Demos: March 19th/21st/22nd, 8 PM PST (2 AM UTC)
  • Anti-sybil Attack Check: April 8th, 12 PM PST - April 12th, 12 PM PST (1 PM UTC)

How Does Quadratic Funding Work with Injective Quadratic Funding Round?

  • Contribute with $INJ: Contributions are cast as votes using $INJ, which directly supports the projects. 1st vote costs 0.01 INJ, and Nth vote costs 0.01*N INJ. So what a BUIDL team can earn from a community funding grant includes:
    • INJ from the voters, used for voting;
    • Weighed matching fund from the quadratic funding pool provided by Dora Factory’s PGS reserve.

The final ranking will be visible at https://dorahacks.io/injective/1/top

  • Calculation: As a voter adds more $INJ to a project, their influence on fund distribution diminishes. Each contribution’s influence is calculated based on the weighted amount in the algorithm: 0.01 INJ (1 vote) counts as 1 vote, 0.02 INJ counts as √2 votes, and n*0.01 INJ equals √n votes. The Cart will automatically handle these complex calculations for you.
  • Progressive Tax: PT ensures fair distribution, even to those with minimal or no INJ contributions. The difference between the top and bottom projects on the leaderboard is kept minimal. The lowest-ranked project receives no less than 1/10 of the grants of the top project.
  • Anti-sybil attack check: when community quadratic funding stops, there will be an anti-sybil attack check on the voting history recorded in the contract, to prevent unfair distribution of the match funding pool caused by sybil attacks.

How to Vote: Step-by-Step

0 - Please make  sure you have enough INJ tokens for voting and gas fee before proceeding.

1 - Check out the projects and vote via DoraHacks: https://dorahacks.io/injective/1/

2 - Click “Add to cart” to select projects you wish to support. A pop-up notification will ask you to connect to your wallet (Keplr/Metamask) in the cart.

3 - Adjust the amount you want to vote. 1 vote will cost 0.01 INJ while you can give multiple votes. INJ you spend will be direct contribution to the projects you support. At the same time, the vcDORA balance will also appear in the cart to show how the votes will be amplified.

4 - Confirm your votes; they  will be recorded on-chain. You can review the current project rankings on the via the leaderboard.

5 - Feel free to join the #flex-your-vote on Discord: https://discord.gg/JE5N2Ucj6s to interact and network with other voters!

How to get MetaMask Injective network address

The Injective network supports Ethereum accounts for signing, you can make transactions using the MetaMask wallet.

You can get your Injective network address at https://hub.injective.network/. (1 vote costs 0.01 INJ. Make sure you have  sufficient $INJ balance and gas fee in your wallet.)

vcDORA to add voting weight (Only MetaMask)

In this voting round, vcDORA holders have more voting power than usual voters. The added weight depends on the real-time vcDORA balance when the holder votes.

Added weight = Log2(vcDORA+2)(realtime vcDORA counts)

For example, if you have:

- 0 vcDORA, Added weight = log₂(0+2) = 1 vote given (so no weight added when you have 0 vcDORA)
- 6 vcDORA, Added weight = log₂(6+2) = 3 votes given
- 1022 vcDORA, Added weight = log₂(1022+2) = 10 votes given

After staking DORA and making sure you own vcDORA(>0), when your wallet is connected, you will see the vote amplifier as follow. (The wallet to vote via INJ and to hold vcDORA should be the same one.)

Why You Should Vote?

  • Contribute to the Injective ecosystem
  • Incentivize blockchain builders & support entrepreneurship
  • Impact the allocation of the 1500 INJ (~$70,000) Matching Fund Pool

vcDORA:Your Dora Grant DAO voting ticket

Dora Staking: a way to participate in the governance of Dora grant communities. By staking $DORA at https://dao.dorahacks.io/#/stake , a staker will receive a corresponding amount of vcDORA as the governance credit on DoraHacks.io

vcDORA: short for “voice credit Dora”, a community governance credit generated through  Dora staking.

vcDORA is the non-transferable voice credit for DORA community governance, and the amount of vcDORA associated with an address is related to the amount of DORA staked, the duration of staking, and time elapsed since the initial staking date.

Features of vcDORA include:

  • Decaying spontaneously: during the period of staking, the amount of vcDORA one holds will decay linearly until the end of the staking period.
  • Upon completing staking, check out your vcDORA balance at a specific date at https://dao.dorahacks.io/#/mine
  • Non-transferable: vcDORA is designed to grant the governance credit to the stakers (the staking addresses), therefore it’s exclusive (or in popular term “soul-bound”) to the staker and is not allowed to be transferred.
  • Irrevocable: Staking is not allowed to be canceled because it’s based on interactions with a smart contract, but you may increase the staked amount or extend the period for additional vcDORA.

What is Quadratic Funding? How does it work?

Quadratic Voting is a voting scheme introduced and often discussed in the Radical Markets community. It is often considered an innovative improvement of the traditional 1-person-1-vote or 1-dollar-1-vote voting schemes.

The votes cost $INJ, which is directly donated to the respective projects after the round. 1st vote costs 0.01 INJ, and Nth vote costs 0.01*N INJ. So what a BUIDL team can earn from a community funding grant includes:

  • INJ from the voters used to vote for a particular project;
  • Respective matching prize from the quadratic funding pool offered by the grant organizer.
  • The wallet to vote via INJ and to hold vcDORA should be the same one.

The final ranking will be visible at https://dorahacks.io/injective/1/top

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What if I encounter problems during the voting process?

DoraHacks.io provides voting support on Discord or Telegram.

2. Can I see my voting history?

Voting history is unavailable for voters at the moment. However, builders can view your address at the end of the hackathon. If you would like to verify the validity of your votes, you can view your voting history via block explorer.

3. Can I use bots to mass vote for some project?

Absolutely don’t do this. Botting and other ways of cheating will be detected by our anti-Sybil attack mechanism, which is why a grace period (3-5 days) is being implemented. Please keep in mind that botting will NOT give your supported projects any advantage or affect the distribution of the Matching Fund Pool.

4. Who receives the $INJ I paid?

The votes (or “donations”) will go directly to the projects.

5. Why can’t I vote?

Invalid voting may occur for multiple reasons, please ensure that you:

  • Own a sufficient amount of $INJ (for voting and a gas fee) in your wallet.
  • Connected to DoraHacks.io: you should be notified with a pop-up page on your wallet that asks for authorization to connect with DoraHacks. Once you authorize the action, your account number should appear in the voting interface.

If you encounter problems that can’t be resolved during voting, please contact us on https://discord.gg/JE5N2Ucj6s.
