How to Create Your Own Hackathon on DoraHacks

DoraHacks has pioneered a sustainable geek movement to support open-source developers worldwide. In our commitment to foster even more of these movements, we've decided to open up opportunities for hosting Hackathons to the global Web3 community.

If you're from a Web3 company or DAO and are planning to organize your own hackathon, you're welcome to apply on the DoraHacks platform for the chance to host one!

Hackathon Application Process:

Step 1: Visit DoraHacks.io

1. Go to the Hackathon page . Click the “Create Hackathon” button. (Note: You need to log in or register an account before proceeding).

*You must create the Hackathon as an organization. If you don’t have an organization yet, you need to create one first.

Step 2: Select Hackathon Type

  • Choose the type of Hackathon: online or offline.
  • For offline Hackathons, additional details like the physical address of the event are required.

Step 3: Fill in the Required Hackathon Form

a. Choose the organization creating the Hackathon, upload a cover for the Hackathon, and fill in the Hackathon details form. This includes materials needed to launch the event such as title, schedule, prizes, tracks, rules, etc. (Prep Materials Checklist >)

b. Customize the URL for your event on DoraHacks.io, including your event name in the URL for easier recall.

c. You can also set a custom question for participants. (This will be displayed when participants submit their BUIDL and are required to answer).

d. Leave a contact for DoraHacks to verify the authenticity of the event and assist in getting it online.

e. DoraHacks platform offers a prize escrow service. If you escrow the prize money with DoraHacks, your Hackathon will display a “Prize Safe” badge, making your event more trustworthy.

f. Finally, don’t forget to check the “Agree to User Agreement” box to successfully submit your event.

*You can save your event as a “Draft” if you don’t want it to go live immediately. Submit it once all information is complete.

Step 3: Contact Us

Once everything is ready, we will get your event live on the DoraHacks platform within 1-2 days!

Step 5: Manage Your Hackathon

After your event goes live, you can edit details, manage project reviews, and judging on the Hackathon page. Read more about  How to Manage your DIY Hackathon.
