Babylon Track: Engineering BTC Economic Security

Background

Babylon allows users to natively stake their BTC on the Bitcoin blockchain and use it as collateral to secure other blockchains, networks, or systems. It bridges the best of PoW (Proof of Work) with the PoS (Proof of Stake) world, injecting the decentralized web3 space with economic security.

We challenge you to develop innovative and groundbreaking systems built on top of staked BTC. Babylon is built on CosmosSDK and is IBC compatible.

Happy hacking!

Getting Started Guide

Ideas List

Our Challenge to Hackers

Build the most promising project backed by BTC security.

BTC, being a more stable and strong asset, offers many economic security benefits. Babylon's self-custodial multi-staking technology enables this security to be transferred to other systems. The best project submitted will have the potential to turn into a startup.

Technologies include but are not limited to:

  • Babylon Chain
  • Babylon Contracts/SDK
  • Babylon Timestamping
  • Babylon Finality Gadget
  • Babylon Staking APIs

Project Ideas:

🚀 PoS backed by BTC Chain integration using CosmosSDK, OP Stack, or other frameworks.
🚀 DeFi applications that increase the utility of Babylon tokens.
🚀 Non-blockchain systems backed by BTC staking to ensure data integrity.
🚀 Infrastructure projects that help complete Babylon's ecosystem tooling.
🚀 Projects that aim to improve the UX for stakers, developers, and projects built on Babylon.

Or... anything you can dream of!

Tooling
Let's face it, we are a new chain, and we also welcome any hackers who can help us improve our tooling overall.

Support
We will host two workshops in the afternoon of Day 1 to help you get started! Mentors will be available from Day 1 until the submission deadline to provide support. They just need to occasionally eat and sleep.

Judges

Our judging criteria are listed here, along with submission guidelines.

  • Jenks Guo - Babylon DevRel
  • Mauro - Babylon Core Developer
