DivHacks 2024, Columbia University's annual diversity-focused hackathon, wrapped up another successful event this year. As a space designed to uplift underrepresented voices in tech, DivHacks continues to bring students from across the tri-state area together to create impactful solutions. This year's participants competed in several categories, including Best Overall Track, and General Tracks like Education, Environment, Media, Fashion, Civic Tech, and Health. The Sponsor Tracks included Google's Best Use of Google NotebookLM, Snap AR’s Dream It Build It, and Pittsburgh Regional Health Initiative's Patient Safety Technology Challenge, among others. Pothos democratizes the Sustainability-Linked Loan (SLLs) ecosystem by providing a SaaS solution that works as an intermediary between small and medium sized businesses and banks. 50-60% of global climate emissions come from these companies. SLLs encourage businesses to improve their sustainability outlook by having interest rates that connect with each company's set key performance indicators (KPIs). Pothos allows businesses to apply for loans connected to target indicators that they commit to achieving. An automatic analysis of the indicators generates a loan contract with an interest rate framework calibrated to their target KPIs. Pothos also provides a loan-tracking dashboard allowing companies to stay on track of their progress in reaching their chosen KPIs. Lastly, Pothos automatically converts these contracts into NFTs. MediTrack

Medication errors, particularly incorrect dosages and inappropriate prescriptions, are a significant cause of preventable harm and death each year. These errors are often due to doctors prescribing drugs without considering the patient’s age, current medications, or allergies. Our project, MediTrack, aims to revolutionize patient safety by equipping healthcare providers with a powerful decision-support tool. By allowing clinicians to input essential patient information such as age, sex, weight, allergies, and current medications, the system can provide real-time analysis and warnings for potential issues. MediTrack also utilises Google’s NotebookLM to suggest alternative medications that are safer and better suited to the patient’s profile. Ultimately, our goal is to empower clinicians to make informed, data-driven prescribing decisions, reducing the risk of adverse drug events and improving patient outcomes and promoting patient safety.
