1. What is Calimero?

Calimero Network is a framework that enables building and running peer-to-peer Self-Sovereign applications focusing on data ownership and harnessing the power of verified off-chain computing.

2. What is the Internet Computer Protocol (ICP)?

The Internet Computer Protocol (ICP), developed by the Dfinity Foundation, is a public blockchain that allows for scalable, high-speed, and low-cost computation. It reimagines how decentralized applications and smart contracts are built and run on the internet. The Internet Computer’s unique consensus algorithm and chain key technology enable it to scale infinitely and offer web-speed performance, making it suitable for building complex dApps and systems.

3. Who should apply to the hackathon?

Developers, entrepreneurs, and innovators interested in building privacy-focused decentralized applications (dApps) using both the Calimero and ICP technology stacks are encouraged to apply. Both solo and team applications will be accepted.

4. What are the requirements to participate?

Participants must use the Calimero and IC SDKs to build dApps that prioritize privacy and decentralized data ownership. Each team must also prepare a pitch deck that details their project, which doesn’t need to be visually polished but should include all relevant information. The hackathon is open to global participants, and there are no restrictions based on geographic location.

5. What is the hackathon timeline?

Application Phase: September 30 Online Hacking Phase: Code Submission Deadline: Final Showcase & Winner Announcements:

6. Judging Criteria

The projects will be judged based on the following criteria: Utilization of Calimero and ICP’s Tech Stack: How effectively does the project integrate with both Calimero and ICP technologies? Creativity: How innovative and unique is the project idea? Technical Complexity: How challenging is the technical implementation of the project? Real-World Impact: Does the project address a real-world problem or create value? Scalability: Is the solution scalable for larger audiences or use cases? User Experience: How intuitive and user-friendly is the application?

7. What are the benefits for winners?

The total reward pool for the hackathon is $40,000 plus additional benefits. These include cash prizes, RZLT services, PR coverage, and support for grants and funding opportunities (up to $100,000 from the Dfinity Foundation). Winners will also gain access to mentors, investors, and the potential for incubation through ICP Hub's proprietary accelerator, Formation3.

8. Who are the judges?

The judging panel will include industry experts, investors, and senior representatives from Calimero, the Dfinity Foundation, and the ICP ecosystem.

9. What additional resources are available for participants?

Participants will have access to dedicated mentorship from experts in both Calimero and ICP, along with technical support during the hackathon. Workshop will also be provided to guide participants through using the SDKs and integrating both technologies to build innovative solutions.
