8 years ago, DoraHacks organized its first hackathon. Some 23 people attended that hackathon, and we didn't have funding to buy everyone food, so hackers brought food by themselves and shared it. From this, we started our journey.
Now DoraHacks.io is a platform that hosts more than 50,000 hackers and 3,000 "BUIDL" teams globally, as well as hundreds of thousands of users who support the innovations from our community. More than that, DoraHacks has become an open platform for open-source communities, hackathon organizations, and blockchain ecosystems. People build communities and fund new ideas with DoraHacks.
The hacker movement is a global, grassroots movement for people who want to make the world we live in better by building new products and technologies. It is also a movement for everyone to live a different life - to choose, to do something uniquely good for the world, and to achieve their ultimate freedom.
The world needs more hackers. The hacker movement is not just a concept, and it is not just about culture and ideas. It is about building communities and infrastructures. That's what we do at DoraHacks - create tools and mechanisms to empower individual hackers as well as BUIDL teams, fund ideas, and connect real-world problems with the right minds.
By now, DoraHacks has funded thousands of teams working on creative ideas and exciting technologies in Crypto, Web3, Quantum Computing, Space, and beyond. Behind these teams is the vast network of supporters of the movement - blockchain ecosystems, open source communities, partners, and community supporters across the world.
We also do our best to support open-source communities and global hackathon organizers to help people access knowledge, skills, and problems. We will continue building tools on DoraHacks.io to empower these communities and make sure that the platform is open to everyone and every hacker community in the world.
We have been fortunate enough to have survived over the past 8 years, which is not easy. We cannot make it without our dedicated team and countless supporters who contributed to DoraHacks. Everyone who's involved and contributed should be proud of yourself - everyone on the Dora team, our BUIDL community, hackers, hackathon organizers, volunteers, the vcDORA community, all DoraHacks.io users who supported hackers, our partners, investors, and everyone else who helped us get here, I'm proud of you.
We have done so much together during this exciting journey, and we have much more to do. Let's keep moving forward from where we are, to an everlasting hacker movement for everyone.
