Lockbox Factory solves the problem of insecure group fund distribution. It is built off of a previous project, Lockbox, which focused on developing a core set of primitives for group fund management (membership changes, votes, etc.). We wanted to allow groups to interact with the broader web3 ecosystem securely.
For this hackathon, we focused on scalability: what we had previously built out was one Lockbox for the whole backend, which prevents different groups from using the platform, individuals from joining multiple Lockboxes, etc. We built out a Lockbox Factory (2 new smart contracts) that allows us to create clones of one base template Lockbox contract with minimal fees.
