Sphere is a decentralised multi-chain resource management hub for enterprises and individuals to store, search, and manage files.
Secure and decentralised information management continues to be a massive pain point in both web2 and web3. Organizational and individual data is held at the mercy of large institutions that can shut off access to information at the click of a switch, or suffer from downtime if centralized servers go offline.
Sphere is a product for individuals and businesses who upload and maintain large amounts of data and want to protect their information against centralisation. Sphere is a decentralised information management hub that allows users to upload and maintain resources in a decentralised way thanks to Storj integrations. Unlike Notion, Google Drive, or Wikipedia our solution has an immutable record of information and truly stores data using a decentralised network.
Utilising blockchain technology to store information on an encrypted and distributed network solves the pain identified earlier. Sphere exists to streamline access to information through an innovative smart tagging system. Each file uploaded stores metadata on the blockchain that the user chooses, and when users upload content, Sphere’s backend publishes data to a smart contract which references the data's locations in Storj and IPFS.
Ethereum - We are using Ethereum as the overall web3 ecosystem features many organizations and DAOs building with the EVM. Ethereum is the largest chain for web3 development and so provides the biggest use case for our decentralised storage solution.
Polygon - We are using Polygon because each listing that is created or interacted with on the platform requires on chain interaction. We have seen through market research that Polygon's L2 cost and speed is an important attribute for users.
Storj - Decentralisation is vital in web3, and so we have chosen to base our entire project around it using the IPFS - Storj pinning to ensure the future freedom of information. When users upload content, Sphere’s backend publishes data to the smart contract which references their locations in Storj and IPFS. Sphere is able to later parse these references and filter them.
Figment - Making data-driven decisions is key to scaling, so we have chosen Figment's Datahub to manage our platform efficiently. Figment is our RPC connection, which was straightforward to deploy thanks to the great documentation and workshops.
Coinbase Wallet - The Coinbase wallet is one of the most accessible and widely used wallets. We envision that Sphere will onboard non-web3 native enterprises and integrating the Coinbase wallet makes achieving this mission seamless.
Skynet - Sphere is a Dapp with the frontend hosted on Skynet. This enables for Sphere to be versioned, so that users can ensure that the app hasn't been maliciously altered.
